WHY LIVELIHOODS MATTER
Opportunity Creates Lasting Change
Many hardworking people have the determination to support themselves and their families but lack access to training, tools, financing, markets, or productive resources.
Without a dependable income, families may struggle to afford food, healthcare, education, and other basic needs. These challenges can deepen poverty and make it difficult for future generations to move forward.
Sustainable livelihood programs help people build practical skills, improve productivity, and create income opportunities that can continue long after a project ends.

Reliable Income
Stable livelihoods help families meet essential needs and prepare for unexpected challenges.

Practical Skills
Vocational and business training can create opportunities for employment and self-employment.

Food Security
Improved farming practices can increase production, strengthen nutrition, and support household income.
Economic Independence

Access to knowledge and resources helps people make confident decisions about their futures.

Featured Story
A Mother’s Hope Restored
When her young daughter began losing weight and becoming less active, a mother feared for her health. Through a community health and nutrition outreach, the child received a nutritional assessment and was referred for additional support. Her mother also learned how to prepare healthier meals using affordable, locally available foods. With continued care and follow-up, the child gradually became stronger, more active, and healthier.
