In a very sad event, a controlled spillage of the Akosombo dam by the Volta River Authority has caused catastrophic flooding in 8 communities along the Volta River downstream, with Mepe being the most affected.
Over 30,000 people have been displaced as inhabitants of these communities have lost their homes, schools, hospitals, businesses, and everything they once owned to roof-level floods.
The magnitude of devastation caused by the flood is overwhelming, and the affected persons will need all the support they can get.
Environmental health experts predict possible health crises as cemeteries, morgues, and toilet facilities have been submerged by floodwaters.

As the Government of Ghana declares a state of Emergency to this effect, Global Aider Incorporated (501c3), in collaboration with Global Aider Ghana LBG, is giving immediate and long-term rebuilding support to the affected communities and families.
The road to recovery will be long; we therefore solicit your support to help the unfortunate victims of this catastrophic flood. Your compassion and generosity can be the lifeline that sustains them in these hard times. Together, we can give them hope and a sense of belonging. No amount is too little to make a difference.
